The dutch word allochtoon originally meant a foreigner.
Over the last decade the word has been used to describe immigrant minorities and their descendents who have settled in the Netherlands.
Victim of the increasing conflict between different cultures, the word has taken on negative connotations.
As a designer I took the challenge of redesigning the word allochtoon, thinking about all the qualities that a foreign culture can add to one that is already settled.
